Itinerary

Nice and relaxing tour for those who want to learn how to ride a horse or want to improve their horse riding skills. Besides horse riding, the tour includes short trips to local places of natural beauty and historical interest. The tour is ideal as a summer holiday for families, groups of friends or couples.
We shall visit lovely untouched natural areas and historical monuments of :
- Banska Stiavnica (UNESCO town)
- Banska Bystrica historic centre
- Hronsek wooden church (UNESCO site)
- Polana Biosphere Reserve and Bystro waterfall
- Pusty castle ruins, once one of the largest castles in Central Europe
- Kremnica, historic gold-mining town.
The detailed description given below is merely the standard package and alterations can be made to allow more horse riding/sightseeing time.

  1. Day 1 Arrival in Zvolen, Slovakia.

    - Arrival in Zvolen town

  2. Day 2 Horseback riding, hike to Pusty hrad (Deserted castle) ruins.

    - Breakfast
    - Horseback riding for 2 hours
    - Car transfer to Zvolen
    - Hiking route: Zvolen - Pusty hrad
    - Return to the ranch or guest house
    - Free time

    Zvolen - Pusty hrad (2 hrs)
    Pusty hrad (Deserted castle) is located near Zvolen. It used to be the largest castle in Central Europe, but only the ruins remain and they are currently under reconstruction.

  3. Day 3 Horseback riding, visit Banska Stiavnica town (UNESCO).

    Banska Stiavnica is former mining town and lies amid the forests of the Stiavnicke mountains. Banska Stiavnica is one of the most beautiful anf historically one of the most interesting towns in Slovakia. The town is inscribed on the List of the World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
    Banska Stavnica progressively became the biggest mining centre in the Habsburg Monarchy in the 18th century. In 1735, the oldest mining school in the Kingdom of Hungary was founded here, few years later it became the first university of its kind in the world. Banska Stiavnica monument town reserve comprises as many as 360 structures. Together they present a unique set of high cultural and historical value, which is set into the wonderful environment of the Stiavnicke mountains.

  4. Day 4 Horseback riding, Kremnica town visit.

    Kremnica town, once one of the richest towns of the Kingdom of Hungary. Today it is the centre of tourism and recreation.
    The mint of Kremnica was founded in 1328 and a year later the first Old Hungarian groschen coins were struck here. The mint of Kremnica also produced the ducats that were highly praised for their quality and beauty and joined the most favourite coins in Europe.

  5. Day 5 Horseback riding, Banska Bystrica town visit, wooden church in Hronsek (UNESCO).

    - Car transfer to Banska Bystrica town; sightseeing
    - Hronsek wooden church vist (UNESCO)
    - Return to the ranch or guest house

    Wooden articled church in Hronsek along with seven other wooden churches of the Slovak part of Carpathian Mountain Area was included in the UNESCO Word Heritage List in 2008. The wooden church and wooden belfry are from 1726. There are 1100 chairs and organ was fitted in 1764. Four bulky lime trees grow in its yard.

    Banska Bystrica, the copper mining town acquired its present look in the Late Middle Ages. Most of the historical monuments are concentrated near main SNP Square.

  6. Day 6 Horseback riding, hike from Detva to Bystre waterfall.

    - Car transfer to Detva
    - Hiking route: Detva - Kalamarka - Bystre waterfall
    - Return to the ranch or guest house
    - Free time

    Detva - Kalamarka - Bystre waterfall (4 - 5 hrs)
    Kalamarka is a place with rock formations and towers created from lava remnants, and also a hill-fort was formed here by the Luzica culture people in the 8th - 10th centuries. Kalamarka is a famous rock-climbing area. Then we will take a short walk to Bystre waterfall.

  7. Day 7 Farewell.
