Searching for the Beauty of the Upper Hron River Region

Slovakia Travel - Location of your Stay The Hron river basin is a colorful landscape, with a variety of possibilities for active relaxation. In the environs there can be found a lot of curiosities - historic and cultural. The stay in this country can, certainly, give you a lot of pleasant and interesting moments. The biggest attraction for tourists, rock climbers and lovers of beautiful nature is the National Park, Low Tatras, second highest mountain range in Slovakia. This mountain range is, almost, 100 kilometers long and found in the middle of Slovakia. Thanks to this fact, from its peaks it is possible to view, almost, the entire, surrounding country and this gives one a beautiful experience of the movement through a virgin nature, full of rare plants and creatures. Under the mountain range is found a continuous complex of caves, hundreds of kilometers long, which, so far, remain unexplored.

Program of this trip:

Day 1: arrival to Slovakia, accommodation, informal reception.

Slovakia Travel - Dumbier Peak Day 2: We will ascend Dumbier (altitude 2043 m), the highest peak in the Low Tatras, where we will be able to see chamois in a special reserve set up for their protection. Dumbier is a beautiful mountain with 500 meter long precipices, and rare flora and fauna. Below the peak, at an altitude of 1740 meters, is Chata M.R.Stefanika (M.R. Stefanik Chalet).

Slovakia Travel - Bystrianska Jaskyna Day 3: We will go to see the cave Bystrianska jaskyna with a sightseeing trail 545 m long. The natural forces created here beautiful forms and halls that were given interesting names, such as Hell, Treasury, etc. 8 species of bats live in this cave.

Slovakia Travel - Vajskovska Valley Day 4: We will take a walk along the valley Vajskovska dolina that is 20 km long. It is one the most beautiful and quiet valleys in Low Tatras with rumbling waterfalls at its end.

Slovakia Travel - Historical Steam-Driven Train Day 5: We will take a ride by a historical steam-driven train in Cierny Balog. The train transports people on a narrow gauge railroad between villages of Hronec and Cierny Balog, and it is a great attraction for tourists visiting this region.

Slovakia Travel - Natural Forest Day 6: We will go to see the wild forest named Dobrocsky prales that is located in the hills of Slovenske rudohorie (Slovak Ore Mountain). The forest was administratively recognised as a reserve in 1913. It is an untouched piece of nature that consists of spruces, fir trees, maples and beeches. Some trees in the reserve are about 450 years old.

Slovakia Travel - Ohniste Day 7: We will go to a limestone-dolomite hill called Ohniste (Fire Place; altitude 1539 m). A karst massif with rock relief, caves, chasms and a beautiful rock window, the largest in Slovakia, can be viewed here.

Day 8: Farewell and departure from Slovakia.
