Itinerary

The Tatra National Park is the largest and most important Natural Reserve in Slovakia. With its challenging hikes and breathtaking views it rivals any mountain range in the world. The peaks and landscapes are monumental - 35 valleys, over 90 mountain lakes and waterfalls crashing into impressive gorges.
The trip is situated in central part of the High Tatras in Hrebienok tourist resort, the best starting point for mountain walks. The area offers great views around the mountains and you will enjoy nights under the Slavkovsky peak.
The tour can be extended in 8 and more days by including of visiting other interesting places.

  1. Day 1 Arrival in Stary Smokovec, Slovakia. Cog cable car to Hrebienok.

    - Arrival in Stary Smokovec
    - Transfer by cog cableway to Hrebienok
    - Accommodation at mountain hotel
    - Meeting with our representative who will provide all necesary information and give you maps
    - Dinner

  2. Day 2 Day hike from Hrebienok to Zbojnicka hut and back.

    - Hiking route: Hrebienok - Zbojnicka hut - Hrebienok
    - Dinner

    Velka Studena Dolina (6 - 7 hrs)
    You will visit the Zbojnicka Chata (Robber's hut; altitude 1960 m), built in Velka Studena Dolina (Great Cold Valley) and surrounded by rocky peaks. The hut was devastated by an extensive fire and its reconstruction was completed in 2000. The hut provides its services during all seasons and supplies have to be carried up to it on the shoulders of mountain carriers.

  3. Day 3 Day hike from Hrebienok to Tery's hut and back.

    - Hiking route: Hrebienok - Tery's hut - Hrebienok
    - Dinner

    Mala Studena dolina (6 - 7 hrs)
    Trek to Teryho Chata (Tery's hut altitude 2015 m), built in 1899 in Mala Studena Dolina (Small Cold Valley) above five Spish mountain lakes that are surrounded by rocky peaks. Small Cold Valley is well-known for its rich mining and poaching history.

  4. Day 4 Visit Belianska Cave.

    - Bus transfer or hiking to the cave
    - Belianska cave visit
    - Return to Hrebienok
    - Dinner

    Belianska cave
    Belianska Cave that is located in the territory of the Tatra National Park. The cave is 1,752 m long, and some of its parts were known by gold-miners already in the 18th century. There are 8 species of bats living in the cave. Cave circuit takes 70 minutes.

  5. Day 5 Day hike from Hrebienok to Slavkovsky peak.

    Slavkovsky peak (7 hrs)
    Slavkovsky Peak (altitude 2,452 m) is popular among tourists because of its large top with a really wonderful view all around. It is situated at the end of south-eastern fork which extends from Vychodna Vysoka (Eastern High) peak. Northern slope of the Slavkovsky Peak is characteristic with a large number of very steep ravines falling down to Velka Studena dolina (Great Cold Valley).

  6. Day 6 Day hike from Hrebienok to Velicke Lake.

    - Hiking route: Hrebienok - Velicke Lake (Sliezsky Dom mountain hotel) - Hrebienok
    - Dinner

    Velicka dolina (5 hrs)
    Velicke Lake is located in Velicka Valley where Sliezsky Dom mountain hotel (Silesian House; altitude 1,670 m) lies as well. Trip offers a striking view of just how high the Tatras are. In viewing the Tatra villages below, hikers sometimes find themselves looking just past their boot-tops.
