Itinerary

The High Tatra National Park is the largest and most important Natural Reserve in Slovakia, with its challenging hikes and breathtaking views; it rivals any mountain range in the world. Though compact, the peaks and landscapes are monumental - with 35 valleys, over 90 lakes and crashing waterfalls into impressive gorges.
The trip is situated in central part of the High Tatras Mountains in Hrebienok plateau altitude 1,200 metres which is the best starting point for mountain walks. You will have great views around the mountains and enjoy nights under the Slavkovsky peak, huge peak of the High Tatras mountains.
You will get all information about the tour in the hotel after transportation from airport.

The tour can be extended in 8 and more days by including of visiting other interesting places.

  1. Day 1 Arrival in Stary Smokovec, Slovakia. Cog cable car to Hrebienok.

  2. Day 2 Day hike from Hrebienok to Zbojnicka hut and back.

    Velka Studena Dolina - (6-7 hrs)
    You will visit the mountain chalet Zbojnicka Chata (Robber's hut; altitude 1960 m), built in the Velka Studena Dolina (Great Cold Valley) and surrounded by rocky peaks. The hut was devastated by an extensive fire and its reconstruction was completed in the year 2000. The hut provides its services during all seasons and supplies have to be carried up to it on the shoulders of sherpas.

  3. Day 3 Day hike from Hrebienok to Tery's hut and back.

    Mala Studena dolina - (6-7 hrs)
    Trek to Teryho Chata (Tery's hut altitude 2015 m), built in the Mala Studena Dolina (Small Cold Valley) in 1899 above five Spish alpine lakes that are surrounded by rocky peaks. Small Cold Valley is well-known for its rich mining and poaching history.

  4. Day 4 Visit Belianska Cave.

    Belianska cave
    You will start in Stary Smokovec village. You can walk there or usea cog railway from Hrebienok. You will get on the bus to Tatranska Kotlina village where the cave is located. The cave has exact open hours so good timing is necessary. You will get all information how and when to get there during the first day of the trip.

    You will visit Belianska Cave that is located in the territory of the Tatra National Park. The cave is 1,752 m long, and some of its parts were known by gold-miners already in the 18th century. There are 8 species of bats living in the cave, now. Time of the tour in cave is approximately 1,5 hours.

  5. Day 5 Day hike from Hrebienok to Slavkovsky peak.

    Slavkovsky peak - (7 hrs)
    The Slavkovsky Peak (altitude 2,452 m), is popular between tourists because of its large top with a really wonderful view all around. It is situated at the end of the south-eastern fork which extentds from Vychodna Vysoka (Eastern High) peak. The northern slope of the Slavkovsky Peak is characteristic with a large number of very steep ravines falling down to the Velka Studena dolina (Great Cold Valley). The whole southern slope is full of scree material.

  6. Day 6 Day hike from Hrebienok to Velicke Lake.

    Velicka dolina - (5 hrs)
    You will go to the Velicka dolina (Velicka Valley), where you will see Velicke pleso (Velicke Lake) with the mountain hotel Sliezsky Dom (Silesian House; altitude 1,670 m) on its bank. Trip offers a striking view of just how high the Tatras are. In viewing the Tatra villages below, hikers sometimes find themselves looking just past their boot-tops.
