Extended Mountain Hiking Week in Low Tatras, Slovakia Travel, Location Low Tatras is the second highest mountain range in Slovakia, which attracts many tourists, rock climbers and lovers of beautiful nature. Low Tatras mountain range extends for 80 km from west to east between picturesque valleys of rivers Vah and Hron. Three peaks of the main ridge reach height of 2000 m. Low Tatras National Park is the most widespread Slovak national park, situated in Central Slovakia. Besides many hiking trails, its biggest attractions are numerous eye-catching karst formations and mystic caves. National Park is characterized by long valleys, deep canyons and steep cliffs, but its territory is dominated by forests. More experienced and adventurous tourists can ascend to the highest peaks of Low Chopok and Dumbier, which offer unique panoramic views of almost half of Slovakia and are a part of the most beautiful ridge of Slovakia. The greatest wealth of the park are several caves, of which the most famous is a complex of Demanovske caves. Strong population of large carnivores such as bear, lynx and wolf live here. Also chamois and marmot occurs here. Diverse, rare and mind-blowing countryside offers its beauty throughout the year.
