Day 1

Meeting with private guide. Banska Stiavnica visit.

Banska Stiavnica is former mining town and lies amid the forests of the Stiavnicke mountains. Banska Stiavnica is one of the most beautiful anf historically one of the most interesting towns in Slovakia. The town is inscribed on the List of the World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
Banska Stavnica progressively became the biggest mining centre in the Habsburg Monarchy in the 18th century. In 1735, the oldest mining school in the Kingdom of Hungary was founded here, few years later it became the first university of its kind in the world. Banska Stiavnica monument town reserve comprises as many as 360 structures. Together they present a unique set of high cultural and historical value, which is set into the wonderful environment of the Stiavnicke mountains.

Day 2

Hiking to Sitno hill and Pocuvadlo lake.

Today's walk takes you through beech and oak woodland on the top of Sitno peak (1009 EASL), the highest one in the area. The peak offers a wide panoramic view from its top. There is a ruin of an old Sitno castle from the 13th century.

A little challenging ascend to the peak is followed by a gentle descent through the woods to Pocuvado lake. It is the largest artificial lake build in the 18th century, originally served for mining purposes. Nowadays, it is popular summer holiday resort.

Day 3

Calvary visit, Arboretum Mlynany visit. Transfer to Bratislava.

Calvary in Banska Stiavnica - The most important Baroque calvary in Slovakia and in the whole former Kingdom of Hungary - probably even in the whole of Europe. This calvary is a complex of 3 churches and 22 chapels with precious painting decorations and wooden painted reliefs.

Arboretum Mlynany boasts the largest and most valuable exotic evergreen wood species in Slovakia. It also is one of the biggest in central Europe. Its area is 67 ha and contains more than 2,300 plant species from most varied corners of our planet, but above all from the southern Asia, Korea and Northern America.
