Best of Slovakia Tour 2026

Even if you do your research, it is always daunting to be in Australia and book a tour via email with an unknown company in another country. However, in this case our 5-day tour with Travel Slovakia/Slovakia Tours was exemplary and delivered on all aspects. Firstly, our contact with Bara in the office was prompt, positive, efficient and reassuring. I found their basic 4-day Best of Slovakia itinerary on the website and added an extra day to see Cicmany and Bojnice Castle (both well worth it).

Secondly, the itinerary was as comprehensive as it could be in our timeframe but also varied and offered diverse environments. The pace of the tour was relaxed. We discovered that the beauty of a private tour was the flexibility. Even with the itinerary we could vary the day by eliminating or adding other places or spending less or more time at places, so long as we were at our accommodation that night. The hotels all met our needs and were centrally located. The car was also very comfortable.

Our guide Barbora was an absolute delight and we enjoyed her company. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer every question we had. She was flexible and willing to change the activities as we went along, making suggestions as well. We particularly appreciated her care and concern that we should get the best experience possible from Slovakia, all the while making accommodations for my sister’s sore foot.

We thoroughly enjoyed Slovakia and were sorry to leave in the end. I totally recommend Travel Slovakia.

It all went well. The scenery was very beautiful. It only rained for a short time on one day(when climbing up where the chains are)

The only minor problem was it took me a while to find the bus station in Starý Smokovec-

Hut to hut self-guided tour in the High Tatras

Hi Bara,
The trip was splendid!
The weather was the most challenging aspect, especially Day 3 with ample rain. But it was a a short day for me and I was done the main hike before the thunderstorm!
Juraj met me the night before at the hotel I was staying and he gave ma a good pointer with anticipated storm weather. Though I heard thunders I did not get rained on and even the last day with Rysy it held up. Unfortunately I did not see the magnificent view at the top, I was glad I could go all the way.

Each hut and Hotel Atrium were excellent.
I especially liked the hut on day 3 Zamkovsky hut. The host was so kind! Honestly, each hut has its charm and the views around the huts were spectacular.

I would love to come back and do other parts as there seems so many great trails in Slovakia. One thing if I can change, I would try to make Day 3 longer and day 4 short to even out a bit.
Other than that, I think how the days were split was great and I also enjoyed the train ride back.
The maps in gpx form definitely helped and I could also follow the markers well.

My two friends and I had a great trip in the mountains. We had a really useful pre-departure briefing with Roman, used the GPX files provided and were happy with all the accommodation. I would definitely recommend the agency for anyone else.

Hi Barbara,

We are safely back from our tour and have even returned to the park today for more hiking!
We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The communication, the huts, and the route were all what we had hoped for and really appreciated the advice and recommendations Roman gave us beforehand.

We liked learning about the area and its history, especially the women mountaineers. We can’t wait to come back.
