The Tatra National Park (TANAP) is the largest and the oldest protected area in Slovakia, founded in 1949. The national park contains more than 100 alpine lakes and several waterfalls. The biggest and deepest lake of the Tatras is Velke Hincovo pleso; highest located one is Modre pleso (2,192 metres above sea level) and the most visited lakes are the Strbske pleso and Popradske pleso.

This tour is suitable for those who desire to explore this unique park from the authentic view in privacy. It is suitable for everyone who has at leat basic experiences with hiking. You will walk up beautiful valleys, saddles and mountain meadows. Panorama of the mountains offers amazing views of peaks, lakes and waterfalls with remarkable colors during sunrises and sunsets.

  1. Day 1 Arrival in Poprad, Slovakia.

  2. Day 2 Hike from Tatranska Kotlina to Zelene pleso (Hut by the Green Lake).

    - Breakfast
    - Bus transfer to Tatranska Kotlina
    - Hiking route: Tatranska Kotlina - Biele pleso - Zelene pleso hut
    - Dinner

    *You can leave unnecessary luggage in the guest house in Poprad, you will spend last night there as well.

    Tatranska Kotlina - Zelene Lake (4 - 5 hrs)
    From Tatranska Kotlina bus stop via Plesnivec hut you walk to Biele Lake to Zelene pleso hut. Thanks to the hut at the lake, the imposing panorama makes this valley one of the most beautiful ones in the High Tatra. You will be amazed by Maly Kezmarsky peak and Jastrabia veza (Hawk Tower) peak.

    Route: Tatranska Kotlina - Plesnivec hut - Velke Biele Lake - Zelene Lake

  3. Day 3 Hike from Zelene pleso to Zamkovsky hut.

    - Hiking route: Zelene pleso - Skalnate pleso - Zamkovsky hut
    - Dinner

    Zelene pleso - Zamkovsky hut (4 hrs)
    From Zelene Pleso hut you will climb up the top of Velka Svistovka. From there easy walk to Skalnate pleso and then to Zamkovsky hut.

    Route: Zelene Pleso hut - (20 meters of chains!) Velka Svistovka - Skalnate pleso - Zamkovsky hut

  4. Day 4 Hike from Zamkovsky hut to Zbojnicka hut.

    - Breakfast
    - Hiking route: Zamkovsky hut - Zbojnicka hut
    - Dinner

    Zamkovsky hut - Zbojnicka hut (5 - 6 hrs)
    Today you walk up to Teryho chata (Tery's hut; altitude 2015 m). You cross the Priecne sedlo (Transverse Saddle; altitude 2352 m) before you reach Zbojnicka chata (Robber's hut, altitude 1960 m). The hut was renovated completely in 2000 and is open during the whole year.

    Route: Zamkovsky hut - Tery's hut - Priecne saddle - Zbojnicka hut

  5. Day 5 Hike from Zbojnicka hut to Popradske pleso (Popradske pleso mountain hotel).

    - Hiking route: Zbojnicka hut - Sliezsky dom mountain hotel - Popradske pleso hut
    - Dinner

    Zbojnicka hut - Popradske pleso hut (7 hrs)
    The route leads up through Prielom saddle (altitude 2288 m) and to Polsky hreben (altitude 2200 m). From there you reach the main mountain of the High Tatra, the Vychodna Vysoka (Eastern High; altitude 2429 m). The trail continue to Batizovske pleso (altitude 1879). Enjoy the view on the Gerlach peak and other surrounding peaks.

    Route: Zbojnicka hut - Prielom saddle - Vychodna Vysoka peak - Sliezsky dom - Batizovske pleso - Ostrva peak - Popradske pleso hut

    Optional route: Popradske pleso - The symbolic cemetery and back (1 hour, easy)

  6. Day 6 Hike from Popradske pleso to Rysy peak and back.

    - Breakfast
    - Hiking route: Popradske pleso - Rysy peak - Popradske pleso
    - Dinner

    Popradske lake - Rysy - Popradske pleso (7 hrs)
    You start in direction to Chata pod Rysmi (Hut under Rysy peak; altitude 2250 m), the highest located mountain hut in the High Tatras. You continue to Rysy peak (altitude 2499 m) located directly at the boarder with Poland and often shrouded by fog. Nevertheless the breathtaking view on surrounding panorama is awesome.

    Route: Popradske pleso hut - Hut under Rysy peak - Rysy peak - Popradske pleso hut

    Optional route: Koprovsky peak (3 hour, moderate)

  7. Day 7 Hike from Popradske pleso to Strbske Pleso village. Train/Bus to Poprad town.

    - Hiking route: Popradske pleso - Strbske pleso - Skok waterfall - Strbske Pleso village
    - Train to Poprad
    - Accommodation at stylish guest house
    - Dinner

    Popradske pleso - Strbske Pleso village (7 hrs)
    Strbske pleso is the most popular and most visited mountain lake in the High Tatras. Enjoy the walk to Skok waterfall before you continue through Bystre saddle (2.300 m) to Furkotska valley and back to Stbske Pleso village.

    Route: Popradske pleso hut - Strbske pleso - Skok waterfall - Bystre saddle - Strbske Pleso village

    Optional route: Solisko hut (1 hour, easy)

  8. Day 8 Fawerell.
