Discover Three Slovak National Parks in One Week - Self-guided

We thoroughly enjoyed the holiday - the landscapes and walks in the three national parks were very different to each other but all very beautiful. The hotels were all good choices and comfortable and I liked that they were also quite varied. The organisation of the holiday was good, each of the transfers went well and on time. I appreciated that we were provided with proper maps of the national parks as well as the GPS device with the suggested walking routes pre-loaded onto it. The only slight negative is that some of the walks (Rozutec in the Mala Fatra, Krivan and Rhysy) were very busy, verging on crowded, which came as a bit of a surprise apart from in the case of Rhysy, where I was expecting this. However, that is just my personal preference - I think my son Ben enjoyed that aspect and his favourite walk was the ascent of Krivan.

My only suggestion for possible improvement would be to include some longer walk options in the Mala Fatra and Slovak Paradise national parks. With the exception of the Rozutec walk, the walks in those locations seemed a lot shorter than the suggested walks in the High Tatras and I would expect that people who could do those longer walks in the High Tatras would also prefer to do longer walks in the other locations. However, because we were provided with good maps we were easily able to lengthen the suggested walks, so this is not a criticism of the holiday. (I should add that when Ben and I did the Rila/Pirin holiday in Bulgaria we also lengthened some of the suggested walks.)

All hotels were okay and were very well located for starting the hiking tours. The taxi service also worked out very well including the changes we asked to be made to the pick up times. Just the weather was not perfect :-( We had to stop both of our Tatra tours due to hale, thunderstorm and then thick fog with less than 20m of sighting distance and temperatures round about 2°C with cold winds... It was still very good hikes because of the beautiful nature in the Tatras! Anyway, we will definitely come back to Slovakia. It was really great!

Today our visit to Slovakia came to an end. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank you for providing a really good programme for all of us.

The whole group was delighted by the accommodation which gradually went up in category until we went to the Grand Hotel, which was magnificient. You were very generous providing us with maps individually of the different mountain areas that we visited.

But what was appreciated most were the guides: Lucy and Adam. Both of them behaved in a very professional way but at the same time were very friendly and kind. They bonded with the group and came up with satisfactory solutions when the planned activity had to be changed because of the weather or other reasons. They were very patient with the less able members of the group and made sure that nobody was left behind on their own when the going was tough.

Everybody felt that we got good value for our money and a very professional service. We will certainly put in a good word for you when talking to people interested in your country.

We really enjoyed our time in Slovakia and the national parks walking tour we did with travelslovakia.The briefings by Martin, maps, transfers, accommodation and food were all great. For future clients we think you should recommend that they have walking poles which we did and good grip boots for the ladders in Slovakia paradise park which we didn't.

We will recommend you company to others.

We had a wonderful stay in Slovakia and lots of good walks. We can thoroughly recommend the 6 day tour to others. We were well received and briefed by you and felt well equipped to start on our holiday. All the hotels were clean and well equipped. The suggested walks were very good and interesting and very well marked, a great advantage if Slovakia wants to attract walkers.There are still many possiblities for us to do some walking in Slovakia another time.

We had a lovely time - unfortunately we have come back to one of the wettest and coldest English summers on record - a far cry from the perfect weather we had in Slovakia.
Thanks for a brilliant introduction to some of the wonderful national parks in Slovakia. The tour was well thought through. We really enjoyed the first day at Mala Fatra, the two big walks in the High Tatras. It was really nice to have a couple of more relaxing days in the Slovensky Raj.
