Spa History

The history of the Spa is closely connected to the history of Bojnice Castle. The first written record of Bojnice thermal springs dates back to 1113.

The first written record about the Bojnice Spa is from the 16th century. Its author describes it as water tanks with various temperatures of water.
In the 17th century, there were five pools under one roof in the Bojnice Spa. The main thermal pool was built of stone, and other baths were of wood.

The modern development of the Spa began in the 1930s.
Since the end of the 1960s, spa treatment has been provided also for foreign patients.

Healing treatment procedures in Bojnice Spa are based on natural healing hydrogen-carbon-sulfate, calcic-magnesium thermal water with the temperature from 28 to 52 ºC rising out of 9 springs from the depth of 1,200 – 1,500 m.

The thermal water improves metabolism and immunologic reactions in cells, and thus the general health condition.

Healing water treats locomotive system diseases, nervous system, gynecological diseases, kidney and urinary tract diseases, and occupational diseases.

A salt bath with a temperature of 40 ºC is ideal for relaxation and rest.
An herbal bath is similar to a sauna, but with different climate conditions. Hot steam of 45 °C heals respiratory and rheumatic diseases.
Sanarium - changing of healing heat and consequent cooling down strengthen immunity and blood circulation.
