A Week of Horseback Riding (with visits to points of interest) II

A Week of Horseback Riding (with visits to points of interest) II, Slovakia Travel, Location For those who want to learn how to ride a horse, or for those who want to improve their riding skills. Lessons will take place in an authorized riding school. As well as horse riding, rest periods periods will include short trips to local places of natural beauty and historical interest. The overall package is not demanding and is an ideal summer holiday for family groups. We shall visit lovely untouched natural features of the High Tatras Mountains and Spis castle (UNESCO protected). The detailed description given below is merely the standard package and alterations can be made to allow more riding/sightseeing time.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrival to Slovakia, accommodation, informal reception.

Day 2:

In the morning, there will be 2 hours of horseback riding supervised by an instructor; in the afternoon, we will make a trip to the High Tatras. We will visit the mountain chalet Zbojnicka Chata (Robber’s Chalet; altitude 1960m), built in the Velka Studena Dolina (Great Cold Valley) and surrounded by rocky peaks.

Day 3:

In the morning, two hours of horseback riding with an instructor; in the afternoon, we will take a trip to Spis castle. The Spis Castle is the largest medieval castle in central Europe. It dates back to 1113 when it was built as a royal castle on an important trade route to the Baltic Sea.

Day 4:

In the morning, two hours of horseback riding with an instructor; in the afternoon, we will make a trip to the High Tatras. We will take a hike from Batizovska Valley to Velicka Valley where we will get to see two beautiful glacial lakes and have views of surrounding peaks.

Day 5:

In the morning, two hours of horseback riding with an instructor; in the afternoon, we will make a trip to the Slovak paradise. We will visit Tomasovsky Vyhlad, a rock cliff that represents an entry gate to Slovensky Raj mountains (Slovak Paradise). From there we will trek through the gorge of the Hornad River and Klastorisko with beautiful waterfalls, rock spires and caves. The force of the Hornad River shaped the terrain that can be scaled only with the help of wooden and steel ladders mounted on the cliffs by the mountain rescue service.

Day 6:

In the morning, two hours of horseback riding with an instructor; in the afternoon, we will make a trip to the High Tatras. We will take a hike up to the top of Krivan (altitude 2494 m); it is a peak that is a symbol of Slovak national pride.

Day 7:

Farewell and departure from Slovakia.
