Zvolen town and medieval Pusty castle

The dominant sight and a symbol of Zvolen is the Zvolen Castle. The castle is preserved in its original, intact shape and it is registered as a National Cultural Monument. Today the Zvolen Castle houses the Slovak National Gallery presenting a valuable collection of Gothic and modern art. The oldest historical monument of Zvolen the Pusty (Deserted) castle standing on the slope of a partly forested hill in the Javorie Mountains.
