The Panoramic View of the Mount Turiec Region

The Panoramic View of the Mount Turiec Region, Slovakia Travel, Location The mount Turiec cauldron is a picturesque region in central Slovakia. It is an ideal point of departure for cycle tourism in the often visited Small and Large Fatra. The Small Fatra National Park has a great variety of physical features and rock formations, as well as splendid mountain views. The Large Fatra National Park can be visited throughout the whole year, is known for its wonderful, long valleys, is richly endowed with rare plants and creatures, is an ideal location for bicycle outings. Besides natural beauty, this county abounds in cultural and historic gems: caves, castles, folk museums. It is an ideal place for light and medium grade cycle tourism. For an active sportsman these are unforgettable, long rides with sharp curves.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrival to Slovakia, accommodation, informal reception.

Day 2:

We will make a trip to Gaderska dolina (Gaderska Valley), a unique valley in Velka Fatra (Large Fatra). The village of Blatnica will be the starting point from which we will ride to the end of the valley. The valley is famous for its unique natural environment and many wild animals. At the end, we will experience a long descent.

Bicycle trail: 18 km long + descent on the way back, gain in altitude – 280 metres.

Day 3:

We will take a strenuous trip up to Martinske hole (Martin Uplands). Those who are fit and brave enough will manage to ascend to the top by bike; otherwise, it is possible to get to the top by cable car and take the bicycle along. We will have a beautiful view of Turcianska Basin from the top, and certainly there will be a long descent to Martin.

Bicycle trail : 10 km long + descent on the way back, gain in altitude – 570 metres.

Day 4:

We will ride along the quiet Necpalska dolina (Necpalska Valley). There are rock towers in this valley, which ends on a flat top located deep in forests. We will ride as far as Chata pod Borisovom (Chalet under Borisov) that is the only mountain chalet in Velka Fatra (Big Fatra).

Bicycle trail: 12 km long + descent on the way back, gain in altitude – 400 metres.

Day 5:

We will visit the Slovak Village Museum near Martin, and then take a trip into the past by visiting the ruins of a castle near the village of Sklabina.

Bicycle trail: 20 km long, gain in altitude – 95 metres.

Day 6:

We will ascend to the most beautiful vista point in the region of Turiec, the mountain chalet on Klacianska Magura (altitude 1300 m). From there, we will take a short hike up to Suchy vrch (Dry Hill, altitude 1468 m), another vista point in the Mala Fatra (Small Fatra).

Bicycle trail: 6 km long + descent on the way back, gain in altitude – 900 metres.

Day 7:

We will go by car to the village of Dolny Harmanec, and from there we will ascend to Kralova studna hill (King’s Well, altitude 1384 m). There is a hotel beneath the peak, and from there we will take a short hike to Krizna (altitude 1574 m) that is a vista point of the Velka Fatra, from which there is a great view of the surrounding Slovak mountains. On the way back, we will experience a wild descent!

Bicycle trail: 12 km long + descent on the way back, gain in altitude – 730 metres.

Day 8:

Farewell and departure from Slovakia.
